The Shape of Christ-Shape Community (1 Peter 3:8)
In 1 Peter 3:8–12, Peter shows us what the gospel produces in the life of the church: a people who share life together. Through unity of mind, sympathy, compassion, brotherly love, and humility, Christ reshapes us from self-centered people into a self-giving community. And the source of this new life is Jesus himself—the One who humbled himself, entered our brokenness, and gave his life to ransom us from sin. As we fix our eyes on Christ, he forms us more and more into his image and teaches us to live, suffer, rejoice, and proclaim the gospel together.
